Morata was begged not to follow Fernando Torres and Falcao by taking ‘cursed’ on wearing Chelsea No. 9 shirt




Alvaro Morata was begged not to inherit the cursed No. 9  Chelsea Jersey, but opted to ignore the advice following his movement away from Chelsea.

The Spaniard completed a big money switch to Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid this summer, with the reigning Premier League champions in need of striking inspiration following the decision to release Diego Costa.

He is charged with the task of being a leading man in the final third, Morata opted to take a number befitting of such a role.

The decision was taken despite his new team mates pointing out that since the heady days of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink plundering 70 goals for the blues, the likes of Mateja Kezman, Steve Sidwell, Franco Di Santo, Fernando Torres and Radamal Falcao have already flattered to deceive with number 9 on their back.

Morato told the Press; That was one of the first things I was ascertain to do after signing up for Chelsea. I eventually choose the Shirt and I am fully relaxed with positive vibes. The lad were begging me because it was cursed, but this is my decision and it’s all I want.
